Fritillaria imperalis Lutea

Fritillaria imperalis Lutea

Fritillaria imperalis Lutea is a striking, spring-flowering bulbous perennial, producing a ring of pendant, bell-shaped, bright yellow flowers in April–May, topped by a leafy crown on sturdy stems to about 1–1.2m, with a spread around 30cm. For Irish gardens it thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil; plant bulbs deeply and slightly on their side to help shed water, and avoid winter waterlogging. An excellent architectural accent for mixed borders, it also suits informal cottage-style plantings.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
